This is an attempt to provide an up to date and exhaustive listing of all sf, fantasy, and horror novels or stories that have been adapted for the big or small screen, so if there's anything we've missed we'd be only too glad to hear from you.
We have included only those movies and tv series that have been directly adapted from or inspired by a specific work of genre fiction, and as such have not included non-genre work by genre writers (such as Stephen King's 'Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption', inspiration for the movie The Shawshank Redemption), those movies or series that have no direct link to a particular work (such as the numerous Flash Gordons taken from Alex Raymond's 1930s comic strip and subsequent novels, or those Dracula and Frankenstein movies that do not follow the original novels), movie novelizations of the Alan Dean Foster school, or the too numerous to mention attempts to bring comic strip superheroes to a wider audience.
