That's All Folks?

Reports last month (I am safely behind the bleeding edge of the news curve!) suggested that Warner was intending to stop licensing music for free streaming services such as Spotify. As far as I can see, they have not pulled the trigger yet because I can still pull up a list of almost 1,400 Warner artists on that site. I might miss a few of them but there will still be plenty to listen to if they withdraw in a sulk.

In fact, if they do go ahead, I think I could quite happily live with myself while avoiding purchasing any of the products of their media empire. It is far reaching but still far from encompassing the sum of human creativity. If anything, it would arguably be a great step forward for music and another nail in the coffin of the more traditional music industry if major players retreated from licensing their music to such services.
