Home

My friend Dave and I visited Home last night. The previous week I had been to a much larger church which looked appealing on the outside but which I found to be visually dull on the inside. No such criticism could be made of Home, which featured things like dual projected images on sheets hanging on either side of the congregation, dim lighting with a few bright spots and cushions and bean bags rather than chairs or pews.

I loved it - the creativity seemed to go much deeper than just how it looked. Instead, the spirituality seemed to flow the other way; a deep seated desire to encounter God, through Jesus Christ, being expressed in a way that is attractive beyond mere window dressing. I am still scouting out possible churches in Oxford but this is one I want to visit again (including trying one of their mid-week meetings).
