H2 Okay

Yesterday was another music day, with a Pico Brown Five gig at lunchtime and an Elusive Teeth rehearsal in the evening.

Both went well, although the experience confirmed that an outdoor bandstand gig in November feels just as cold as you might expect. That will be fun when the 'Teeth appear there, at Merton Abbey Mills, on 15 December!

Those events also gave me my first chance to use the Zoom H2 recording device I bought last week. I have had a quick listen to the jazz set and the result is at least as good as working with my minidisc with the added bonus that the tracks are immediately available as digital files rather than having to be re-recorded onto the computer as an extra stage.

The H2 also doubles as an audio interface and performs as a high quality desk mic, finally giving me a readily accessible way of making use of Skype (shortly after my post about that, back in June, the mic input on my laptop broke, which set me back somewhat).

All told then, I think buying the Zoom H2 was a worthwhile investment for my needs and I am looking forward to becoming more familiar with it and getting some excellent recordings in the months to come.
