Wine Review - Martin Códax Albariño
I am not a great wine drinker but I do want to improve. Therefore, I recently purchased a dozen bottles of wine at the local Majestic (the minimum order), picking most of my choices in pairs. My plan is to to review each wine as I drink it, developing my ability to characterise wines and pick the right bottle for any given occassion.

This is a thin, lightly scented wine with a pale golden colour. The taste tends towards sharp, even green, with a lingering aftertaste. All in all, it is an excellent complement for the range of salty and oily fish dishes that are popular in the wine's native region of Galicia in North West Spain, holding its own against the strong tastes and freshening the palate. It was an excellent partner to the grilled sardines that I tested it with.
The bottle was stopped with a plastic cork, printed with a short piece of music although, as far as I could read it while rotating the cork, it did not sound as if it was meant as anything more than a decorative design.

For reference, here is the review given by Majestic:
Albariño is the white grape variety of note from Spain with a style very similar to Viognier. It offers a delicate yet forceful peachy aroma on the nose and palate and is a great choice if you prefer something a little different to Chardonnay.
