Now that I've described my past and present knitting projects, I thought I'd complete the trilogy by mentioning some of the other things I'm hoping to get knitted before too long. As always, it will be interesting (for me, at least) to compare what I actually get round to making with what I'd like to make.
As previously mentioned, I'm hoping to have another go at the striped socks I was working on that turned out too small. My current plan is to get started on those sometime later this week. I'm planning to go up a size or two in dpns but I don't think I'll need to use the same size I'm using for the slipper socks.
Slightly longer term, I'm hoping to knit a few more hats, including a tam o'shanter, and some more socks, since hats and socks are both things that I feel I can never have too many of. I wouldn't mind knitting myself a jumper, or perhaps a cardigan, at some point. I'm hoping to try some more multicoloured stuff soon, including some proper Fairisle style knitting - my teacosy used a similar technique but only in a checkerboard pattern.
I'd also like to get a bit more crochet done, since my only projects so far have been a couple of coasters with a matching teapot stand and a small möbius strip. One project I have in mind for crochet is a bow holster for my double bass - I'm also considering knitting it but I think the slightly stiffer crochet fabric might be more suitable for this purpose.
Incidentally you may have noticed that my last couple of posts have been referring to all measurements in metric units, whereas previously I've tended to use inches when talking about the projects themselves. I figured that it's good to be consistent and, since my needles are all in metric sizes and I think the metric system is a lot more logical in any case, I've decided to train myself to measure and try to visualise my knitting projects in metric units as far as possible.
Finally, here's a quick progress report on my slipper socks. I'm
getting very close to starting the toe on the first sock. Here's a
photo showing the detail in the top of the sock:

At my
current rate of progress, I'm hoping that I might get both slippers
finished by the end of this week or at least early next week.
